Logically related tasks that are performed to achieve a certain outcome for an organisation are grouped within business processes. Traditionally, business processes are carried out manually based on the knowlegde of the employees and supported by the institutions regulations and procedures. Modern information technology can support and coordinate these business processes and thus provide additional benefit for the organization.
One of the research areas of Steinbeis Transfer Centre IMCHI is the support of cultural heritage business processes with business process management systems and the implementation of reference workflows based on standard business process models and notations.
In addition, Prof. Koch is chair of a dedicated work group, museum process implementation, of the ICOM international committee for documentation.
